Welcome to Family Growth Psychology

I was born and raised in the metro Detroit area until I attended University of Dallas, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology while also playing varsity basketball all four years. After graduation I was in love with the warm climate and decided to take a job as a mental health caseworker for about a year before moving back to Michigan and starting my Master of Arts program, at Wayne State University, in Counseling Psychology. After graduation and becoming a psychologist I immediately began my work with children and their families at a group practice. Now, I am ready to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning my own private practice - Family Growth Psychology. 

More about me: I am a person that loves Starbuck's, staying active with friends and family, and can't live without some substantial sunshine in my life. I am always searching for beautiful and walkable outdoor spaces. I am passionate about integrating mental health with physical and spiritual health. And not to undermine how much I also love my downtime, I am a total pushover for a glass of wine and Hallmark Movies or The Bachelor, or a long play session of my own with my son!

I am a child and family psychologist because family is the foundation of healthy kids, and healthy kids mean fulfilled and happy adults! I have felt drawn to the wellbeing of children, since a young age. Starting at 12 years old I was a babysitter, in middle school and high school I was leader for various youth groups, in high school I continued volunteering with youth camps and programs, and my engagement with kids continued throughout college. I have a soft spot in my soul for the innocence and authenticity of kids - they are sponges constantly soaking up their environments in hopes of satisficing their need for love, safety, and relationship. I am passionate about being one support to help each child fulfill those needs and wants - and by extension - parents! I love working with parents who are fully engaged in their child's well-being and walking in step with their kids through struggles and successes. 

Parenting is a tough, ever changing, and ever challenging job - no pressure, right?! Every parent needs confidence and support to tackle that job every day. I hope to inspire your kids and you that life is going to happen, but with the right tools and relationships, it doesn't have to be SO hard! I truly believe that with a little learning and a little playing amazing progress can be made!
